the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of our presence in South Africa was held in Kakamas on 23 August 2024. The celebration took place in the hall of our nursery school, beautifully decorated for the occasion. The day began with a solemn Mass of thanksgiving presided over by His Excellency Edward Gabriel Risi, OMI, bishop of the diocese, together with some 20 concelebrants . Melodious songs performed by a choir of children and adults and traditional nods enriched the celebration. The bishop's homily resonated with deep emotion, emphasizing the theme of gratitude and praise.
After the Mass, a book entitled “50 Years of History in Africa” was released, followed by a short program in which the most significant moments of these 50 years were recalled, particularly the exemplary life of sacrifice and dedication of the pioneering Italian sisters, highlighting the inestimable value of the service offered and the positive impact that the congregation's presence has had on people's lives.
The celebration was concluded with a delicious lunch. The presence of many friends and acquaintances testified to the strength of the bond that unites the community. Our sincerest thanks go to Sr. Angela Pannikkattel, Sr. Marietta Mangattu, Sr. Ancy maria Puthoor and Sr. Sushila Kullu who worked hard for days and months to make this event a successful and meaningful one.
