On Sunday, 25 August, 2024, as was her daily routine, Sr. Mariapia, assisted by a nurse, rose from bed, washed, and began get ready for breakfast. However, she suddenly felt unwell and returned to bed. Shortly after lying down, she peacefully passed away.

Although Sr. Mariapia appeared to be in good condition, she did not enjoy a good health in reality and had been staying in the infirmary for several months. However, none of us expected her life to come to such a sudden end.

Sr. Mariapia, known as Ida Molari, was born in Montiano (FC) on 12 January, 1941. She entered the Congregation at a very young age on 20 September, 1957, where her sister, Sr. Sebastiana, was already a member. She made her first religious profession on 8 September 1960, and her perpetual profession on 14 August, 1966.

Qualified as a pre-school teacher, she dedicated her service to our pre-schools in Gambettola, Massa Lombarda, Santerno, Voltana, Ameglia, and Rome. She also spent several years in Fabiano at the institute for orphaned or underprivileged children, supervising those in the early grades of primary school. From 2009 onward, she was stationed at the Motherhouse in Lugo, where she contributed both to the preschool and  managing the house’s reception desk.

Sociable, diligent, and always ready to assist those who approached her, she was well-liked by the children, educating and entertaining them. However, she had a  fluctuating temperament, which, perhaps due to  the severe diabetes she had been managing for years without complete success, impacted her interactions with others. Consequently, she experienced moments of genuine positivity as well as times that were quite difficult and challenging for both herself and those around her.

Sr. Mariapia spent her last months in the infirmary of Lugo, and recently her interactions with the nurses, whom she had struggled to obey, gradually became more harmonious. She prayed extensively; indeed, for those who knew her in these last years, she was known as 'the sister with the rosary always in hand,' to whom prayers were frequently requested by all.

Sr. Mariapia has now gone to the Father’s house, welcomed by our sisters and her loved ones who have gone before her, and certainly by the Blessed Virgin whom she deeply loved and prayed to. While we  continue to pray for her, we trust that she, now in the Father’s house, will intercede for all of us.
